HOW
YOU CAN HELP
Thank you for your interest
in helping DPLS and the clients we represent.
Gifts for general support from individuals, law
firms, and other organizations help make our
work for low-income children and families
possible. Your contributions allow us to
provide advice to individuals on their legal
rights; negotiate settlement on behalf of
clients; represent clients in court in
individual cases; represent clients in complex
cases establishing legal precedents affecting
thousands of individuals; work with government
officials to improve public policies; work with
community groups on community problems; and
provide community legal education and self-help
materials. Here are some ways you can help:
Donations/Contributions:
Your donation or
contribution can consist of many things,
including, but not limited to:
* Cash gifts (write a
check and mail it to the address below)
* Pledge an amount
for future years contribution
* Commemorative gift in
memory of a loved one
* Designate DPLS in a
planned gift (insurance policy, trust or
will)
* Donation of goods
(equipment, furniture, supplies, etc.)
* Donation of time
(volunteer services)
Internships:
Law students work with DPLS
on a variety of projects each year. Some
projects completed in the past included many
Indian Law and community education projects,
tribal code projects, and a land consolidation and
estate planning project. Many interns have also
gained practical experience by completing needed
research and discovery and drafting pleadings
under DPLS attorney supervision. Have your law
school contact us for information on internships
and the possibility of receiving law school
credits for work completed.
